Community Projects
Community Projects
Lifelites is seeking to support 21 community projects with sensory and assistive technology over three years from 2025. We will support 7 projects per year.
We seek organisations with a proven track record of supporting children with life-limiting conditions and align closely with Lifelites’ Mission.
We will provide assistive technology, installation and training to support the delivery of these projects.
We are seeking to support organisations across Britain and Ireland which address an unmet need, with particular prioritisation for children and young people who do not have access to Lifelites services through children’s hospices.
We will provide packages of assistive technology up to the value of £25,000 for each project in addition to specialist installation and training support.
Organisations must demonstrate identifiable need and evidence how assistive technology will improve health and wellbeing outcomes for children with life-limiting conditions.
Projects may be delivered in a variety of settings, and we expect organisations to demonstrate how they will use technology to reach children and young people at risk of social isolation.
We will provide:
- Equipment and software
- Configuration and installation support
- Face to face training
- Access to online training
- Technology user guides
- Access to Lifelites’ advice, activity ideas and online content
Organisations support will be able to access online training, advice and online content for four years from the point of installation.
We will fund registered charities and regulated organisations with a proven track record of delivering services for children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.*
- Projects must support children and young people in Britain and Ireland (British Isles).
- Organisations must have been running with a verifiable client base for a minimum of three years
- Projects must provide the majority of their support for children and young people (1-18 years) with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.
- We will also consider projects that support young adults up to age 25, if they also support children and young people.
- Projects must be able to demonstrate clear evidence of the need for assistive technology for their beneficiaries, anticipated outcomes and detailed information about how and where the technology would be used.
- Organisations must agree to recognise and celebrate Lifelites and its role in supporting their project.
*Life-limiting conditions are those that cannot be cured and where death in childhood is likely.
Life-threatening conditions are those that may be cured, but where treatments may not be successful and a child could die.
Projects will support children and young people living with significant medical complexity and uncertainty.
- We will not support organisations currently in receipt of Lifelites support
- Social Enterprises, Community Interest Companies, or un-registered community interest groups
- Individuals
- Retrospective funding
- Projects for beneficiaries outside of Britain and Ireland
How to apply
We have a two-stage application process. The Stage 1 application is designed to be short and easy to complete and you can submit this online.
If this application is successful, we will contact organisations about the process for Stage 2. This will include an online consultation with the organisation about their project with shortlisted organisations invited to promote their project for a public vote.
Stage 1 guidance notes
Stage 1 applications will be asked to provide:
- Key organisational information (organisation name, location, status, main contacts
- Mission & objectives
- Track record of delivery
- Information about how and where assistive technology will be used
- Evidence of need & demand for the project
- Expected outcomes and evidence of a monitoring and evaluation framework (no. beneficiaries, health & wellbeing outcomes, wider impact)
- Any other information
- Safeguarding policies
- Accounts
Open to applications: November 2024
Deadline for submissions: 10th January 2025
Stage 1 assessment and selection
We are committed to careful review and have a rigorous assessment process. This includes a review of your organisation’s track record, finances, and status. We will also review the details of planned activities and anticipated outcomes of your project against our own strategic objectives.
Stage 2 selection
Lifelites will conduct consultation sessions with 10 shortlisted organisations in February to approve the final equipment lists and discuss next steps.
Short-listed applications will be invited to promote their projects for votes from their community during March 2025.
The three projects with the highest number of public votes will be successful automatically. The Lifelites 25 Grants Committee will select four other projects for support based on assessment criteria and factors such as project scale and location.
After completion of Stage 2, we will contact all successful organisations to arrange installation and training, which will likely take place May-August.
Terms & conditions
All successful applications will be subject to Lifelites Terms & Conditions and asked to complete a Partnership Agreement. This will include commitment to promote Lifelites support, branding, PR and media and comply with reporting and evaluation frameworks.
